Les Halles Bakery Made Me Stand in Line—and I’d Do It Again

I don’t wait in line for food.
It is against my personal belief system.

If there’s a long line, I turn around and find something else. Immediately. No hesitation.

I also don’t follow hype.
No “must-dos.”
No pressure.

Most people go right… I go left.

Lines are not my friends.

But somehow, I found myself standing in one at Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie… and I didn’t leave.

Trust me… it’s worth it

I stayed. I committed.

And a few minutes later, I was walking out with more desserts than any one person needs and absolutely zero regrets.

Turns out, some rules are meant to be broken—especially when pastry is involved.

To find this hidden gem, head to the France Pavilion.

Walk in with purpose.
Chefs de France will be on your left. Shops on your right.

If you see Remy or the crepe restaurant… you’ve gone too far. Back it up.

Keep walking until you feel like you should stop walking.
Then… turn left.

My favorite window will be on your right.

I saw her and knew—spirit animal. I love her.

Keep wandering and you’ll hit an archway… and probably a line.

The correct building! If you see this- you made it.

Yes. A line.

It starts at the bakery, snakes through the store, and usually spills outside.

You’re close to paradise.

Now listen carefully—this is important.

Don’t be afraid of the line.
It moves fast.

There are no ropes, which feels slightly chaotic, and yes… I did witness someone line-cutting. Stay alert. Protect your spot like it’s your dessert.

Once inside, the line zig-zags beautifully and efficiently.

While you wait, you’ll face the hardest decision of your day:

What are you getting?

It feels impossible.
But decisions must be made.

At the end, someone will ask how many are in your party and assign you to a cast member who handles everything.

It’s smooth. It’s organized. It’s a great system.

Now… the important part.

What to order?

The sandwiches? Very, very good.
The Brie is my favorite.

The baguette? Crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle. Exactly what you want it to be.

But let’s be honest…

I wasn’t here for that.

I was here for sugar.

I told myself I would only get one thing.

That was a lie.

I left with four desserts… and still wanted more.

Croissant “Oh Là Là: A buttery, flaky croissant topped with chocolate—rich, melty, slightly over-the-top in the best way. Flaky layers everywhere. Chocolate doing the absolute most. Zero restraint. This is not your “grab-and-go breakfast” croissant. This is a commitment.

Macaron Framboise et Citron vert: a giant raspberry macaron with citrus cream (lime/lemony vibe) and fresh raspberries inside. Also worth noting—this is not your standard tiny macaron.
It’s huge, messy, filled with cream and actual fruit, and borderline a full dessert situation.

Éclair au Chocolat: A soft choux pastry filled with rich chocolate pastry cream and topped with a smooth, glossy layer of chocolate icing. Soft. Creamy. Chocolate everywhere. No crunch. No drama. No chaos. Just a very solid, very reliable dessert that knows exactly what it’s doing.

Napoleon (Mille-feuille): Delicate, flaky layers of puff pastry stacked with smooth vanilla pastry cream, topped with that classic white icing and chocolate swirl. It shatters. It flakes. It falls apart in the most dramatic way possible. You will lose control of the situation almost immediately.

So yes. This weekend, I broke my own rule.

I stood in line.

And it was worth it.

I admit it—I was wrong.

The bakery in the France Pavilion is one of the best I’ve ever been to.
The desserts. The bread. The everything.

I will absolutely stand in that line again.

Now… the seating situation.

It’s a lot.

People everywhere.
Moving in every direction.

Hello, anxiety.

The red chairs are adorable. The wall sayings are charming.

A red chair!

There is a bathroom (one stall for men and one stall for women)… so yes, there’s a line. Of course there is.

I would absolutely buy this sign and put it in my kitchen—it’s that cute.

There is a bathroom (one stall for men and one stall for women)… so yes, there’s a line. Of course there is.

You know it’s fancy when the sign is in French.

I just… can’t sit there.

It’s too much.
Too many people. Too much noise.

It’s not relaxing—and if I’m eating dessert, I need calm.

I want to enjoy it… not scarf it down so I can escape.

So you have some choices to make about where to eat.

Sometimes I find a bench or a quiet stoop and just enjoy the weather.

Other times… I take it back to my secret spot at the Disney's Beach Club Resort.

I have a secret spot. It’s quiet, calm, and perfect. I’ll show you next time.

Final verdict:

10 out of 10.

Even with the crowd.
Even with the chaos.
Even with the one person who absolutely cut the line.

I can’t wait to go back.

And maybe next time…

I’ll only leave with one dessert.

(Maybe.)
