Saana is More Than Just Bread
I have a hard time at Sanaa.
Not because I don’t like it… but because I want everything on the menu.
And honestly? That might be the biggest problem you’ll have here too.
The bread service is the one must-order at Sanaa—everything else depends on your mood (and your ability to make decisions under pressure).
Sanaa is not easy to find.
But that just adds to the personality.
Animal Kingdom Lodge is split into two sections: Jambo House and Kidani Village.
Jambo House is what you think of. The giant ceilings. The stunning wood. The “wow, I’ve arrived” moment.
Sanaa?
Not there.
Sanaa is over at Kidani Village.
Kidani is quieter. Calmer. And if I’m being honest… the lobby feels a little like, “Am I in the right place?” (You are. Keep going.)
Now, important life advice:
When you stop at security and say you’re going to Sanaa, they will tell you to park at Kidani Village.
Do. Not. Do. That.
The parking garage is stressful. It’s big, it’s confusing, and it feels slightly scary.
Instead—park at Jambo House.
Yes, you’ll walk about five minutes. Yes, it is 100% worth it. The parking is easier, your happiness stays intact, and there are signs to guide you.
When these beautiful lanterns show up on your left… you’re in the right place. Welcome to Kidani Village.
Now what?
And this is where things start to feel right. The huge windows, the light, the view.
Look straight ahead, slightly to the right of the windows- there’s a staircase.
Take it downstairs.
At the bottom, go right.
And there it is.
The journey has been completed.
Sanaa.
You’ve made it.
Now let’s talk about why I love it so much.
It’s calm. It’s warm. It’s inviting in that quiet, comfortable way that makes you instantly relax. The staff is kind, the menu is approachable, and nothing feels overwhelming.
And then… the view.
You’re sitting there, eating incredible African-inspired food…
…and casually watching real animals grazing outside.
Like it’s no big deal.
It is a big deal.
You don’t feel like you are at Disney anymore.
This is the part where you forget you’re in Florida.
Now the reason why you are there- the food.
Appetizers:
Let’s start with the most famous item at Sanaa: the bread service.
Now… I like to think of myself as an independent thinker. I don’t love following the crowd. I like to have my own opinions.
But in this case?
The crowd is correct.
The bread service is phenomenal.
Truly. I could come here, order the bread service, and leave completely happy. No notes. No regrets. Just… joy.
And if you’re thinking, “It’s just bread…”
It is not just bread.
It is an experience.
Indian- Style Bread Service: Five Breads with all Nine Accompaniments…$23
Tradiontal Naan, Garlic- Ginger Naam, Spcied Naa, Onion Kulcha or Paneer Paratha.
This is the moment where I stop pretending I have self-control.
Accompaniments- Cucumber Raita, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Mango Chutney, Tomato- Date Jam, Tamarind Chutney, Coriander Chutney, Garlic Pickle, Red Chile Sambal or Spicy Jalapeno- Lime Pickle
Now, another appetizer that deserves attention: the samosas.
They are absolutely scrumptious—perfectly flavored, with just the right amount of spice. Enough to make things interesting… but not enough to cause a life crisis.
Which, in my opinion, is the ideal level of spice.
Samoasa: Potato and Pea Samosas with Tamarind and Mango Chutney… $11
Entrées:
This is where things get… stressful.
I look at this menu… and I want everything. Not in a cute, exaggerated way—I mean it. Everything sounds good, and somehow… everything actually is good.
Making a decision here is very hard for me.
And I say that as someone who has tried almost everything on the menu (except the burger… I don’t know why, I just haven’t committed to that yet).
And here’s the surprising part:
Entrées are usually my least favorite part of a meal.
I’m an appetizer and dessert person at heart. That’s where I live. That’s where I’m happiest.
But at Sanaa?
The entrées hold their own.
Every single one I’ve tried has been flavorful, comforting, and just different enough to feel special without being overwhelming.
So yes… I will sit there, stare at the menu, and spiral a little.
But no matter what you choose, you’re going to end up very happy.
My very official decision-making strategy:
Pick something that sounds good… and then make sure someone at your table orders something else so you can try both.
Potjie- Inspired… $37
Choose one from the Journey- Butter Chicken, Braised Beef, Lamb Vindaloo or Durban Shrimp Curry.
Choose one from the Harvest- Chickpea Wat, Rajma Masala, Lentil Daal or Sukuma Wiki
Served with Scented Basmati Rice
This is where the “I want to order everything” panic sets in.

Desserts:
Desserts are the reason I’m here.
This is where I come alive. This is where I thrive.
And Sanaa understands that.
Not only are the desserts delicious… they are gorgeous. Each one is designed to resemble a different animal, which is such a fun and very appreciated detail.
Because now you’re sitting there, belly happy, completely content, looking out at real animals…
…and then your dessert arrives resembling an animal too.
And yes, there is a brief moment where you feel bad eating something that looks that pretty.
But not for long.
Because it’s dessert.
Can you guess what animal it represents?
Giraffe Tower Mouse: Banana Cakr, Peanut Butter Mousse, Banana Mouse, and Caramel with Tanzanian Peanut Butter Crunch.. $ 13
And just like that, one of my favorite meals comes to an end.
But I’m not sad.
Because this place? It’s one of my hidden happy places… and it’s always waiting for me.
And then…
I go claim my favorite rocking seat (very important), and just sit there for a minute- gently swaying and taking in a completely different view of the place I love so much.
And if you find yourself sitting there- watching the animals, feeling a little calmer than when you walked in—
you’ll understand why I love it so much.
One of my hidden happy places… highly recommend staying a little longer here.
