Bathroom #19 and #20: The Odyssey Pavilion Bathroom Situation
Story
The Odyssey Pavilion is in a strange place.
It is part of World Showcase.
Or is it part of World Discovery?
Who knows.
What I do know is that I enjoy walking across the bridges to get there. Sometimes you can see fish. Sometimes you can see turtles. Sometimes you get that lovely EPCOT breeze that makes you forget your feet hurt.
But if you think the location of the Odyssey Pavilion is confusing, wait until we discuss the bathrooms.
Because the Odyssey bathroom situation is also confused.
Naturally.
Bathroom #19: Mood Swings and Paper Towels
It is so pretty outside!
This is a nice, adequate bathroom.
It is close to the First Aid Center, which makes it very convenient. It is also usually available, which immediately gives it points because sometimes at Disney, “available” is the whole personality.
But this bathroom has moods.
Sometimes it is the cleanest bathroom with no lines, no chaos, and no grumpy people. Occasionally, there is even a towel animal by the mirror in the women’s bathroom.
The towel animal in question!
Never the men’s bathroom.
Which feels wrong.
Men can enjoy towel animals too.
Maybe that should be on a T-shirt.
But I digress.
Sometimes there are bubbles blowing in the wind. Sometimes there is music playing. Sometimes this bathroom feels like it woke up, had coffee, and chose joy.
And then there are the bad moods.
The bathroom can be so unkept that I have walked right back out.
No bubbles.
No towel animals.
No music.
You are lucky if one paper towel dispenser works. You are lucky if any of the sinks work.
So this bathroom is hard to gauge.
When it is good, it is very, very good.
But when it is bad, it is naughty.
Bathroom #20: The Elusive Festival Bathroom
She's Got Character
There is also a bathroom located inside the Odyssey Pavilion.
This bathroom isn't trying to be trendy. It knows what it is. Reliable, practical, and a little dated. Old but functional. A little like me.
Unfortunately, it is only open during festivals or special events at EPCOT.
Which is sad.
The outside area of the bathroom usually gets a special design to match the festival, and it is joyful and whimsical. It makes the whole space feel more exciting, like the bathroom got invited to the party and dressed accordingly.
The wrap around matches the Flower and Garden Festival!
The inside of the bathroom is a little dated and rundown.
But the design works.
The flow works.
The space works.
So honestly, the tile color does not bother me as much.
This is one of my go-to bathrooms for cleanliness, air conditioning, and a little bit of alone time because it is not as well known.
But it is a catch-22.
If it were open every day, it probably would not feel so special.
Details
Location: Odyssey Pavilion area in EPCOT
Nearby landmarks: Baby Care Center, bridges between World Showcase and World Discovery
Bathroom #19: Always available
Bathroom #20: Only open during festivals or special events
Best feature: Convenience, air conditioning, and occasional towel animal joy
Biggest issue: Inconsistency
Automatic flushers: Yes, proceed emotionally prepared
Anything Special?
Bathroom #19 sometimes has bubbles, music, and towel animals.
Bathroom #20 sometimes has festival theming outside, which gives it a little extra personality before you even walk in.
Also, I am still deeply concerned that the towel animals are only in the women’s bathroom.
Justice for men who enjoy tiny towel creatures.
Official Ruling
Bathroom #19: Always Available
A useful bathroom with dramatic mood swings. It can be clean, calm, and delightful. It can also be chaotic, sad, and missing basic supplies. Use when needed, but do not give it your whole heart.
Bathroom #20: Occasionally Open
A reliable festival bathroom that feels a little hidden, a little special, and very useful when it is open. Slightly dated inside, but the layout works and the air conditioning earns respect.
Final Verdict
The Odyssey Pavilion bathroom situation is confusing, but honestly, so is the Odyssey Pavilion.
Bathroom #19 is the dependable one with unpredictable emotions.
Bathroom #20 is the special occasion bathroom that only appears when EPCOT is feeling festive.
Together, they are exactly what you would expect from a building that cannot decide what neighborhood it belongs to.
