Bathroom #42: I Hate This Bathroom More Than the TRON Queue
I hate the TRON bathroom.
I mean I really hate it.
I hate this bathroom more than I hated the upstairs bathroom at The Land Pavilion.
And if you know me, you know that says something.
I hate this bathroom with a burning passion.
I might even hate it more than the TRON queue.
Because honestly…
How many times do we need to watch the same video telling us to get ready?
I am ready.
I have been ready.
I was ready 45 minutes ago.
But I am still standing here being told to prepare myself.
Anyhow.
This is not about the queue.
This is about this terrible, horrible bathroom.
And the reason this bathroom bothers me so much is because it is new.
TRON Lightcycle / Run opened in 2023.
This bathroom is only a few years old.
Which means someone recently designed this.
Someone planned it.
Someone looked at the layout and said…
Yes.
This works.
And that is why my bathroom-loving heart cannot handle it.
Okay.
Deep breaths.
I know bathrooms.
I care about bathrooms.
And when Disney builds something brand new and misses the mark, it hurts.
So let me explain.
The Story
The first problem is the outside.
TRON is futuristic.
TRON is sleek.
TRON looks like you have stepped into another world.
The entire area is filled with movement, lights, curves, and technology.
And then there is the bathroom.
A box.
A plain, ordinary box.
Nothing exciting.
Nothing special.
Nothing that says, “Welcome to the Grid.”
Think about the Canada Pavilion bathroom in EPCOT.
That bathroom understood the assignment.
It blended into the area.
It added to the story.
This bathroom?
It is just there.
And for Disney, “just there” is disappointing.
The second problem is the location.
If you are walking around Tomorrowland and need this bathroom, good luck.
You have to go up ramps.
You have to walk past the ride area.
You have to travel all the way into the back.
If you are about to get into a 65-minute TRON line and think, “Maybe I should go first…”
The closest convenient bathroom is actually the Space Mountain bathroom.
Bathroom #41.
Because this one?
This bathroom is waiting for you at the end.
Literally.
When you exit TRON, this bathroom is right there.
Which sounds like a great idea.
Except…
Everyone leaving TRON is excited.
They just raced through the Grid.
They want to talk.
They want to laugh.
They want to wait for family members.
And naturally, everyone gathers right in front of the bathroom.
At first I was annoyed.
Why is everyone standing here?
Why are you blocking my bathroom adventure?
But then I realized something.
It is not their fault.
They are happy.
The ride is fun.
The pathway encourages everyone to stop there.
It is a design problem.
I took one photo where I erased all the people and the bathroom looked great.
The second photo?
That is reality.
Crowds.
Everywhere.
The third problem is there is nowhere to wait.
The entire area is filled with people waiting for their group to finish the ride.
So if you are waiting for someone using the bathroom, you are just awkwardly standing in a sea of TRON excitement.
The fourth problem is actually getting inside.
The bathroom entrance is strange.
The doors are surrounded by walls, so you have to walk into this tight hallway area before entering the actual bathroom.
And it creates bathroom traffic jams.
Yes.
Bathroom traffic jams are real.
There are blind corners everywhere.
You cannot see who is coming out.
They cannot see you coming in.
Everyone is doing that awkward bathroom shuffle.
“You go.”
“No, you go.”
“Oh no, we both went.”
It does not work.
The Bathroom
Repeat after me:
If you have an open-door restroom, you need strong air conditioning.
Disney did not get that memo.
This bathroom is hot.
Really hot.
Uncomfortably hot.
And the smell.
Oh my goodness.
The smell.
The entire bathroom area has a smell, but inside is worse.
The automatic flushers were also not working correctly when I visited.
Which did not help.
I had to check multiple stalls before finding one that was clean.
And then there is the size.
It is not big enough.
There are too many people trying to use one bathroom area.
The Cast Member cleaning this bathroom was completely overwhelmed.
And I want to be very clear.
That was not her fault.
She was trying.
But one person versus a packed bathroom with broken flushers?
That is an impossible mission.
Even TRON would reject that challenge.
Anything Special?
The theming.
Or really…
The lack of theming.
This is what makes me the saddest.
This bathroom is inside the TRON area.
The ride building is beautiful.
The pavilion is creative.
The entire experience has such a strong identity.
So I expected the bathroom to continue that story.
And…
No.
I will give credit where credit is due.
The stall doors are actually pretty cool.
I love the metal.
I love the texture.
The lighting does feel futuristic.
For a brief second, you see what this bathroom could have been.
And then that is it.
The magic disappears.
The rest is just dull.
You could be anywhere.
And that is the problem.
Disney bathrooms can be part of the story.
I have seen Disney create amazing bathrooms.
I know what they can do.
The Official Ruling

Final Verdict
I wanted more.
Actually, I expected more.
This is TRON.
This is Disney.
This was a chance to create something futuristic, different, and exciting.
Instead, we got a bathroom that feels forgotten.
Disney…
I am not angry.
I am just disappointed.
