Hollywood Studios or Transportation? This Bathroom Has an Identity Crisis #84

The Story

I have a problem.

A bathroom problem.

And it's been bothering me more than it probably should.

Is this a Hollywood Studios bathroom or a Disney transportation bathroom?

I know.

These are the important questions that keep me up at night.

Let me explain.

This bathroom is located right next to the Hollywood Studios Skyliner station.

It's also near the bus drop-off area.

And it's right where the walking path from the EPCOT resorts ends.

Sounds like a transportation bathroom, right?

Not so fast.

The building is painted in colors that coordinate beautifully with the Hollywood Studios entrance.

It's included on the Hollywood Studios directional signs.

And there's wonderful, upbeat, jazzy music playing.

The kind of music that immediately makes me think of Hollywood Studios.

So now what?

WHERE DOES THIS BATHROOM BELONG?

Transportation?

Hollywood Studios?

Both?

I have spent entirely too much time thinking about this.

And I still haven't made a decision.

But here's what I do know.

Whichever category gets this bathroom should consider itself very lucky.

Because this is a really nice bathroom.

Inside AND out.

And it makes me ridiculously happy.

Let's Start Outside

Can we please talk about the bathroom signs?

Because I love them.

They're bright red circles with silver frames.

Bold. Colorful. Impossible to miss.

And against the green building?

Perfection.

I appreciate a bathroom that knows how to make an entrance.

The signage is also wonderfully clear.

There's no wandering around wondering which door you're supposed to use.

No bathroom detective work required.

You see the signs.

You know where to go.

Beautiful.

And Then You Walk Inside

And somehow, it gets even better.

This bathroom is big, bright, and spacious.

There's a separate baby-changing area with its own sink.

The bright red signage continues inside, tying everything together.

And then there's the decor.

A yellow and black stripe runs around the entire bathroom.

Such a simple detail.

But I love it.

It adds color and personality without making the bathroom feel overwhelming.

The Music Makes Everything Better

Now we need to discuss the music.

Because this might be my favorite part.

There's this wonderful, uplifting, jazzy music playing.

It's cheerful.

It's energetic.

It's very Hollywood Studios.

And it immediately puts me in a good mood.

I'm not even inside the park yet, and I'm already excited.

A bathroom that makes me excited to enter Hollywood Studios?

What a wonderful accomplishment.

Apparently, Everyone Else Is in a Hurry

Here's something else I love about this bathroom.

It's usually empty.

And clean.

Really clean.

My theory?

Most people walk right past it.

They're rushing to get into Hollywood Studios.

They've got rides to ride.

Lightning Lanes to make.

Things to do.

And apparently, no time to appreciate a perfectly lovely bathroom.

Their loss.

Because I always stop here.

Especially when I've walked over from the Yacht Club.

After that walk, a nice, quiet bathroom is exactly what I want.

And this one delivers.

But I Do Have Two Complaints

You knew there had to be something.

First, the air conditioning.

This is an open-door bathroom.

And when it's approximately 100 degrees outside with Florida humidity doing its very best to make everyone miserable, the air conditioning struggles.

It just can't keep up.

And the bathroom gets hot.

Not my favorite.

My second complaint?

WHERE IS THE SHADE?

There's practically none around this bathroom.

And in the morning, the sun beats down on the building.

You can actually see my shadow in some of my pictures.

That's how much sun we're talking about.

After walking from the Yacht Club, I would really appreciate a little shade.

Just a little.

I'm not asking for a tropical rainforest.

Although now that I think about it...

No.

Let's stay focused.

We're reviewing a bathroom.

The Details

Location: Outside Disney's Hollywood Studios entrance, near the Skyliner station, bus drop-off area, and walking path from the EPCOT resorts.

Nearest Landmark: Hollywood Studios Skyliner station.

Best Time to Visit: Mornings or anytime you're arriving at or leaving Hollywood Studios. Just be prepared for some serious sunshine.

Crowd Level: Usually very low during my visits. Most people seem to walk right past it.

Anything Special: Bright red circular restroom signs, colorful interior stripes, unique sink lighting, a separate baby-changing area with its own sink, and wonderfully upbeat jazzy music.

The Official Ruling

Situation: Excellent. Conveniently located for Skyliner riders, bus passengers, and people walking from the EPCOT resorts.

Cold Air: Disappointing on extremely hot days. The open entrances make it difficult for the air conditioning to keep up.

Stall Situation: Spacious bathroom with plenty of room to move around.

Paper Situation: No particular complaints from my visits.

Flush Situation: Nothing memorable to report. Which, when it comes to flushing toilets, is often a good thing.

Noise Level: Usually quiet, with cheerful jazzy music playing in the background. I love it.

Smell: Clean and pleasant during my visits.

Handwashing Area: One of my favorite features. Spacious, with really cool lighting above the sinks.

Decor: Fantastic. Bright red signage, silver framing, green exterior, and cheerful yellow and black stripes inside. Someone clearly had fun designing this bathroom.

Companion Restroom: Yes! And it even has its own bright red sign that matches the rest of the bathroom. I love when the companion restroom feels like part of the overall design instead of an afterthought. Nicely done, Hollywood Studios. Or Transportation. Whoever you are.

Overall Comfort: Very good, especially when the weather cooperates. The lack of shade and struggling air conditioning are the only things keeping it from being even better.

The Final Verdict

I really, really like this bathroom.

It's bright.

It's colorful.

It's spacious.

It's usually clean and quiet.

The signs make me happy.

The lights make me happy.

The music makes me happy.

Apparently, I have found a bathroom that brings me joy.

And I am perfectly comfortable admitting that.

Would I like better air conditioning?

Absolutely.

Would I appreciate some shade outside?

Oh, yes.

But those are relatively small complaints about an otherwise wonderful bathroom.

And I will continue stopping here every time I walk over from the Yacht Club.

Which brings us back to my original problem.

Is this a Hollywood Studios bathroom or a transportation bathroom?

I still don't know.

Maybe it doesn't matter.

Maybe a great bathroom doesn't need to fit neatly into one category.

Maybe it can just be a great bathroom.

But I do have a website to organize.

And a bathroom quest to maintain.

So eventually, I'm going to have to make a decision.

Who knew reviewing bathrooms would involve so much administrative stress?

At least this particular bathroom makes me smile.
