Bathroom #50: Welcome to the Bayou

The Story

This bathroom is extraordinary.

Honestly, someone should organize a New Orleans parade in its honor.

I'll bring the beads.

This is what happens when Imagineers decide that even a bathroom deserves a story.

Every single detail feels intentional. Nothing looks random. Nothing feels forgotten. Everywhere you look is another reminder that you've stepped into Tiana's world.

Finding it is a bit of an adventure.

Disney did not put up a giant flashing sign saying, "Amazing Bathroom This Way!"

You have to earn it.

Head toward Tiana's Bayou Adventure like you're about to ride. Walk down the ramp or stairs. Pass both the Lightning Lane and standby entrances. Keep going. When you spot the stroller parking on your right, you're close.

Walk through the tunnel...

...and suddenly you're no longer in Frontierland.

You're standing in a peaceful Louisiana bayou.

The restroom sits inside a weathered wooden building that looks like it's been there forever. It belongs here.

Before you even step inside, there is so much to explore.

There are benches tucked under the trees.

Three water fountains.

Old-fashioned pay phones.

Even checkerboards waiting for someone to sit down and play a game.

This isn't just somewhere to rush into before your next Lightning Lane.

It's a destination.

Now...

You already know my greatest Disney weakness.

Bathroom signs.

I love them.

And these might be my favorite bathroom signs Disney has ever created.

A Cast Member hand-decorated them.

They colored the clothing.

Added flowers.

Gave each figure its own personality.

The companion restroom signs joined the celebration.

Even the Cast Members only sign was original.

Seeing these signs makes my heart ridiculously happy.

Someone cared enough to make a bathroom sign special.

That is Disney magic.

Walking inside made me a little nervous.

I've been fooled before.

The outside can be spectacular...

...and then you open the door and everything magical disappears.

I'm still recovering from the Pinocchio bathroom.

Thankfully...

This bathroom understood the assignment.

The women's restroom has two entrances.

One opens into the main sink area near the baby changing station.

The other leads toward the back of the restroom, helping spread everyone out.

The colors inside are beautiful.

Everything feels calm, welcoming and wonderfully whimsical without becoming over-the-top.

Then I noticed something that made me stop.

Every stall door is different.

Different colors.

Different designs.

Every single one.

Think about that for a second.

Someone sat in a meeting and said,

"What if every bathroom stall had its own personality?"

And someone else replied,

"Absolutely."

That is the kind of dedication I respect.

The stall colors perfectly coordinate with the surrounding walls, making the entire room feel thoughtfully designed instead of simply decorated.

Even the wall sconces fit the rustic Louisiana atmosphere.

Nothing breaks the illusion.

During my visit the restroom was almost empty.

It's surprisingly large, and because it's tucked away, many guests never discover it unless they're riding Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

Everything was spotless.

Nothing was out of place.

And...

The air conditioning worked.

Beautiful theming.

Cold air.

My love language.

The only small disappointment was that I didn't find a changing table inside the companion restroom.

Also, because this restroom serves a water ride, don't be surprised if parts of the floor get a little damp from soaked riders.

That's just the bayou saying hello.

By the time I walked out, I realized something.

This bathroom had done the impossible.

It made me question my rankings.

Tangled is still my number one.

But this bayou beauty marched right up beside it with a trumpet, a jazz band, and a tray of beignets.

Crowd Level: Surprisingly quiet.

Situation: Almost empty during my visit.

Cold Air: Excellent.

Stall Situation: Spacious with individually themed stall doors.

Paper Situation: Standard Disney paper.

Flush Situation: Standard.

Noise Level: Peaceful with relaxing bayou music outside.

Smell: Fresh and clean.

Handwashing Area: Spacious and spotless.

Decor: Imagineering at its finest.

Companion Restroom: Yes, but no changing table noted.

Overall Comfort: Outstanding.

Final Verdict

Like Tiana, this bathroom proves that when you pour your whole heart into something, even an ordinary building can become something extraordinary.

This bayou is full of soul, charm, and joyful little details.
