There Is Toast At Ale & Compass.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls…
The moment we have been waiting for has arrived.
THERE IS TOAST AT ALE & COMPASS.
Actual toast.
They have two kinds of bread.
They have a toaster.
These are happy days.
For the Faerberboeck family, this may be one of the most important Disney dining developments of the year.
Let me explain.
Ale & Compass Has a New Breakfast Menu
Ale & Compass Restaurant at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort has changed its breakfast menu.
Actually, all of its menus have changed.
But we are only talking about breakfast today.
Why?
Because I have eaten breakfast at Ale & Compass on more Saturday mornings than I can count.
And because Dave needs toast with breakfast.
Needs it.
For what felt like an eternity, Ale & Compass did not have toast.
The only bread option was a grilled English muffin.
And I am sorry.
An English muffin is not toast.
Dave knew this.
I knew this.
Apparently Ale & Compass finally knows this.
Because there is now toast.
Give the man his toast.
Give his loving wife some peace.
Everyone wins.
Goodbye, Breakfast Buffet
There is another BIG change.
The continental breakfast buffet is gone.
Completely gone.
And I actually think this was a very good decision.
The buffet always created a little bit of chaos and confusion. People weren't always sure how it worked, and I have actually watched people walk in, fill up a plate and walk right back out without paying.
Just breakfast bandits wandering into the Yacht Club.
Now there is no confusion.
No buffet.
No wandering plates of unpaid croissants.
The front of the restaurant does look a little sad without it. There's a big empty space where all those pastries used to live.
But functionally?
Much better.
And if you are mourning the pastries, don't panic.
There is now a Danish Basket on the menu.
The pastries have survived.
They have simply been relocated.
Some Things Are Gone
A few breakfast items did not survive the great Ale & Compass menu shuffle.
And I am completely fine with that.
I’m looking at you, quiche.
You had your time.
Some new things have appeared, including Stuffed French Toast and Avocado Toast “Lox.”
But most importantly...
My Dark Chocolate Waffles made the cut.
THANK GOODNESS.
Because if Dave lost his toast and I lost my Dark Chocolate Waffles, we might have needed to find a new Saturday morning restaurant.
Nobody wants that kind of upheaval.
My Final Thoughts
I already loved breakfast at Ale & Compass.
It is one of those restaurants we return to again and again, especially on Saturday mornings.
But I think the new menu makes it even better.
The confusing buffet is gone.
There are some interesting new choices.
My Dark Chocolate Waffles survived.
And most importantly...
THERE. IS. TOAST.
Two kinds of bread.
A toaster.
Dave is happy.
I am happy.
Breakfast peace has officially returned to the Yacht Club.
And really, isn't that what vacation is all about?
