Bathroom #33: The Tiny Moana Bathroom That Left Me With So Many Questions

I missed this bathroom the first time.

Yes.

I walked all around EPCOT beyond World Showcase documenting bathrooms and somehow completely missed an entire bathroom.

But I did warn everyone that the numbers in the Great Disney Bathroom Quest would probably end up out of order.

Because no one is perfect.

Especially when your mission is documenting every single Disney bathroom.

And honestly?

I am so glad I went back and found this one.

Because I have thoughts.

Lots of thoughts.

Bathroom #33 is found inside Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana.

Yes.

I said inside.

Not beside it.

Not behind it.

Not somewhere nearby.

Nope.

Right in the middle of the water adventure, Disney placed a tiny little bathroom.

And that is probably why I missed it.

I normally skip walking through Moana.

I was trying to figure out why because honestly…

I don’t have a good reason.

It is beautiful.

It is peaceful.

It is fun.

But I digress.

A bathroom inside this attraction is actually a genius idea.

Because you know what doesn’t help when you already have to go?

Water.

Dripping water.

Flowing water.

Splashing water.

The drip… drip… drip.

Your bladder doesn’t stand a chance.

The Location

Disney does a great job helping you find this bathroom.

There are two beautiful signs guiding you along the way.

And they match the area perfectly.

They blend into the nature around them instead of screaming:

“HEY! BATHROOM OVER HERE!”

The path itself is gorgeous.

You walk through all this greenery and vegetation, surrounded by the Moana atmosphere.

So naturally I started thinking…

This bathroom building is going to be amazing.

The outside is going to match the attraction.

Disney is going to give me island vibes.

Ocean vibes.

Moana magic.

And then…

You stop.

Because there is a line.

Of course there is a line.

And while you are waiting, you peek around the people ahead of you and see…

Three plain doors.

Just three regular, boring, mysterious doors.

One is the bathroom.

The other two?

Cast Members Only.

One is even labeled staircase.

A staircase?

Where does it go?

What secrets are hidden back there?

So many unanswered Disney questions.

The Bathroom Situation

Here is where things get confusing.

Disney made two very noticeable signs so everyone knows this bathroom exists.

Great idea.

Except…

It is only one single stall.

One.

That’s it.

And the line situation is awkward.

You are basically waiting right in the Cast Member walkway.

Cast Members were constantly going in and out of both doors.

They were extremely nice about it.

Of course they were.

They’re Disney Cast Members.

But I was absolutely in the way.

It just felt like a very strange design choice.

The Inside

Finally.

My turn.

And I had no idea what to expect.

Was the inside going to match the plain outside doors?

Or was Disney hiding some Moana magic behind this mystery bathroom?

I opened the door.

And…

I was pleasantly surprised.

This bathroom is beautiful.

It feels like you stepped underwater.

The wall tiles shimmer.

They glow.

They look like the ocean is surrounding you.

Absolute perfection.

My only complaint?

The floor.

I wish they had continued the theme.

Maybe a sandy color.

Maybe a deeper ocean blue.

Something that made the whole room feel complete.

Because those walls deserved a little more drama.

A beautiful selfie from L.

Anything Special?

This tiny bathroom actually has a lot packed inside.

There is:

🚽 toilet
🚹 urinal
👶 baby changing table
🚰 sink

It is definitely close quarters, but I appreciate that Disney included a urinal.

The design works for everyone.

And then I noticed another little Disney detail.

There is a sign explaining that the toilet and urinal use reclaimed water.

Which honestly fits perfectly here.

A bathroom located inside an attraction teaching us about water actually has a little lesson about water.

Well played, Disney.

Well played.

There are also grab bars on the walls for wheelchair users, but I did notice the sink and paper towel holder seemed pretty high.

The Official Ruling

Situation: Beautiful hidden bathroom, strange setup
Cold Air: Not great. It felt hot and stuffy
Stall: One single bathroom
Paper: Standard Disney paper
Flush: Worked fine
Noise: Quiet inside, awkward outside
Smell: No issues
Handwashing: Sink inside
Decor: Gorgeous underwater Moana vibes
Accessibility: Grab bars included, but some features seemed high
Overall Comfort: Pretty, but stressful because of the line

Final Verdict

This bathroom confused me.

The inside?

Beautiful.

The location?

Actually really smart.

The design?

Questionable.

A one-stall bathroom in an attraction completely based around water feels risky.

And for anyone having a Crohn’s flare or needing extra time, this would not be my first choice.

I know I felt rushed because I knew there was a line waiting outside.

But I have to give Disney credit.

They could have made this just a plain little bathroom hidden behind a door.

Instead they added shimmering tiles and a little bit of Moana magic.

It might be tiny.

It might make me wonder where that mysterious staircase goes.

But at least it gave me something to talk about.

And clearly…

I always have thoughts.
