Wailulu Bar & Grill Restroom Bathroom #78

The Story

I was sweating.

Of course.

At this point, sweating at Disney is less of an inconvenience and more of a personality trait.

I was wandering around the Polynesian looking for two things:

Air conditioning.

And water.

Mostly water.

So I wandered into Wailulu Bar & Grill.

I had never been inside before.

I wasn't looking for a bathroom.

I wasn't even thinking about bathrooms.

Which, for me, is frankly unusual.

And then I saw it.

A bathroom.

Inside the restaurant.

A happy little bathroom accident.

Naturally, the water mission was immediately abandoned.

I had investigating to do.

The bathroom is tucked all the way in the back of the restaurant.

But don't worry about getting lost.

There is an ENORMOUS restroom sign pointing you in the right direction.

Subtle?

No.

Helpful?

Absolutely.

And then Disney Imagineers did what Disney Imagineers do best.

They made the walk to the toilet beautiful.

The hallway is gorgeous.

It's surrounded by wood and curves around almost like a little winding tunnel.

You don't just walk to this bathroom.

You journey to it.

And waiting for you at the end is this enormous blue Polynesian painting.

It is breathtaking.

Seriously.

I stopped.

I stared.

I forgot I was there to inspect toilets.

For a moment.

Even the restroom signs are adorable and fit perfectly with the Polynesian theme.

One thing did catch my attention.

The companion restroom sign doesn't have the traditional accessibility symbol on it.

Which I found interesting because the restroom itself appears to be accessible.

You know me.

I notice bathroom signs.

It's who I am now.

Then I walked inside.

GORGEOUS.

The floor tile.

The wall tile.

The colors.

Everything works together.

Even the baby changing area is beautiful.

The walls are a bright, warm off-beige, which makes the entire bathroom feel much larger than it actually is.

Because this isn't a huge bathroom.

It's actually pretty small.

And that makes me wonder what happens when Wailulu is open and busy.

A beautiful bathroom can turn into Bathroom Hunger Games remarkably quickly.

But during my visit?

Peaceful.

Clean.

Cool.

And yes...

The air conditioning worked!

I had no complaints.

None.

Do you understand how strange this is?

I can find something to complain about in almost any bathroom.

It's one of my gifts.

But this one?

Nothing.

Don't tell the other Polynesian bathrooms...

This was my favorite bathroom at the entire Polynesian.

There.

I said it.

Unfortunately, it couldn't compete in my Polynesian Resort Bathroom Challenge because it's technically a restaurant bathroom.

Rules are rules.

Even when they rob a bathroom of its rightful crown.

So I admired the tile one more time.

Looked at the gorgeous hallway.

Finished my completely unexpected bathroom investigation.

And went on my merry way.

Then about five minutes later I realized something.

I NEVER GOT MY WATER.

Apparently, bathrooms remain my greatest distraction.

The Details

Nearest Landmark: Walk toward the back of the restaurant and follow the giant restroom sign. Trust me. You will see it.

Best Time to Visit: When the restaurant isn't busy

Crowd Level: Very quiet during my visit, but the bathroom is small, so I would expect a different story during busy dining times.

The Official Ruling

Situation: A surprise bathroom discovery that completely derailed my search for water.

Paper Situation: No issues.

Flush Situation: No complaints.

Handwashing Area: Beautiful, bright, and coordinated with the rest of the bathroom.

Decor: Gorgeous. The floor and wall tiles work perfectly together, and the lighter colors make the space feel much bigger.

Companion Restroom: Yes. Interestingly, the sign does not feature the traditional accessibility symbol, although the restroom appears to be accessible.

Overall Comfort: Excellent. Cool, clean, peaceful, and pretty. My bathroom requirements have been met.

Final Verdict

I loved this bathroom.

Actually...

I think it might be my favorite bathroom at the Polynesian.

The hallway alone deserves its own tiny round of applause.

The theming is beautiful.

The bathroom is clean.

The air conditioning works.

There's a companion restroom.

And I couldn't find anything to complain about.

Nothing.

A historic moment in the Great Disney Bathroom Quest.

If restaurant bathrooms had been eligible for my Polynesian rankings, this one would have caused some serious bathroom drama.

But it wasn't eligible.

So the crown remains where it is.

Wailulu will simply have to live with the honor of being my secret favorite Polynesian bathroom.

And I will have to live with the fact that I walked into the restaurant looking for water...

and left without drinking a single drop.

The Bathroom Adventure Continues! 🚽

One bathroom down. Approximately a million more to go. Okay, slight exaggeration. But I'm working my way through Walt Disney World, one restroom at a time. From beautiful bathrooms to questionable toilet paper, I'm inspecting it all.

Follow along with The Great Disney Bathroom Quest to discover more bathrooms, hidden details, and places you might want to know about before you really have to go.
