Do You Like Waffles? Yes, I Like Waffles.
Shhh…
Do you want to know a secret?
A tiny little Steakhouse 71 breakfast secret that makes me ridiculously happy?
At Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, you can get four small Mickey-shaped waffles instead of pancakes.
Yes.
Mickey waffles.
🎤 Mic drop.
Disney magic at its finest.
Here is what you do.
Look at the breakfast menu.
See the Seasonal Pancakes entrée for $15?
Order that.
But ask your server if you can substitute Mickey waffles for the pancakes.
And this next part is VERY important.
Ask for all the seasonal pancake goodies on the side.
Because I don't want to lose the goodies.
I want the goodies.
I just want them with Mickey waffles.
Sometimes the Cast Member understands exactly what I am asking for.
Other times there is a little confusion.
So I explain:
I want Mickey waffles instead of the pancakes, but I still want all the delicious stuff that normally comes with the seasonal pancakes.
Eventually, we get there.
And then breakfast arrives.
Four adorable Mickey waffles.
A bowl filled with seasonal deliciousness.
Plus a side.
It is happiness on a plate.
And when I say seasonal, I mean seasonal.
I have eaten this breakfast in the spring.
I have eaten it in the summer.
I have eaten it in the fall.
And yes, I have eaten it in the winter.
This is serious research, people.
The goodies change with the seasons.
The Mickey waffles remain gloriously Mickey-shaped.
Which means I obviously have to keep going back.
For research.
I don't make the rules.
Now Let's Talk About the Price
This is where things can get a little Disney-mathy.
Sometimes I have been charged $14.
Most of the time, I am charged $15.
Occasionally, I have been charged $18.
When that happened, we kindly explained what we had ordered, and the price was adjusted.
So yes.
There may be a tiny bit of confusion involved.
Is it worth it?
Absolutely.
Because we all know one very important breakfast truth:
Waffles are better than pancakes.
And Mickey waffles are much, much better than ordinary pancakes.
And you get to eat Mickey's ears while sitting inside the Contemporary Resort.
Which is exactly why Steakhouse 71 is my favorite Disney World breakfast spot.
Now you know my secret.
Use this information wisely.
Clearly, I'm Still Hungry!
I travel for the experiences. I stay for the food. And occasionally, I plan an entire day around a particular dessert.
