Boo to The Loo: Ranking All 16 Magic Kingdom Bathrooms
In the spirit of the pumpkin...
it is time.
I have walked all over Magic Kingdom.
I have taken pictures.
I have inspected stalls.
I have judged sinks.
I have tested air conditioning.
I have complained about automatic toilets.
I have gotten lost.
I have sweated.
I have smelled things I would like to forget.
I have even cried.
All in the name of bathrooms.
And now that Magic Kingdom is dressed up for Mickeyβs Not-So-Scary Halloween Party...
it feels like the perfect time to finally do this.
Rank all 16 Magic Kingdom bathrooms.
From the biggest treat...
to the nastiest trick.
We are going best to worst.
Which means we are starting with a trick-or-treat bag overflowing with Reeseβs pumpkins...
and slowly working our way toward the house that hands out toothbrushes.
So grab your candy bag.
Cue Boo-to-You.
Watch out for the Headless Horseman.
And letβs rank some bathrooms.
Because nothing says Halloween quite like judging toilets.
ππ»π½
#1 Tangled
Of course it is Tangled.
Was there really any question?
If Magic Kingdom bathrooms were floats in the Boo-to-You Parade...
Tangled would be leading the whole thing.
Mickey can follow.
Sorry, Mickey.
After the recent refurbishment, I walked into this bathroom...
and cried.
Not a little tear.
Not a sniffle.
I had a full-on emotional moment.
In.
A.
Bathroom.
The Imagineers did such an incredible job.
Everywhere you look there are little details from Tangled.
The walls.
The ceiling.
The signs.
The lanterns.
And...
THE SHELVES.
Yes.
There are shelves in the bathroom.
And apparently this is all it takes to make me ridiculously happy.
But it was more than that.
Bathrooms are really important to some families.
Some people depend on them much more than others.
And standing inside this beautiful bathroom made me feel like Disney understood that.
Like they were saying...
you deserve beautiful things too.
That is why Tangled is #1.
It isn't just pretty.
It feels like Disney cared.
And now every other bathroom has to compete with that.
Good luck.
π Halloween Ruling: The house handing out FULL-SIZE candy bars.
No tricks here.
The ultimate treat.
#2 Tianaβs Bayou Adventure
Tiana almost did it.
She almost knocked Tangled out of the #1 spot.
First...
you have to find this bathroom.
Because apparently finding a bathroom should sometimes count toward your daily step goal.
You basically have to pretend you are going to ride Tianaβs Bayou Adventure.
Go down the steps or ramp.
Past Lightning Lane.
Past the regular line.
Keep walking.
See stroller parking?
Good.
Keep walking.
Eventually you come through the tunnel...
and suddenly...
THE BAYOU.
There is this wonderful wooden shack.
The details are beautiful.
The atmosphere completely changes.
And you forget that you just walked what felt like seventeen miles to find a toilet.
When I originally reviewed this bathroom, I said a New Orleans parade should be held in its honor.
I stand by that.
But since it is Halloween...
letβs make it a New Orleans Halloween parade.
Get Louis.
Get the band.
Give everyone candy.
We are celebrating a bathroom.
The Imagineers didn't just stick a restroom near Tiana.
They made it part of her world.
That is what Disney does best.
π Halloween Ruling: A trick-or-treat bag filled entirely with your favorite candy.
Almost #1.
Almost.
#3 Storybook Circus
Storybook Circus bathroom is my go to bathroom.
It is a beautiful bathroom inside and out.
It is whimsical.
It is colorful.
It has personality.
It feels like someone thought about it.
I love when the bathroom continues the story happening outside instead of suddenly transporting me to a random gas station.
And by bathroom #16...
you will understand exactly why I appreciate that.
This bathroom isn't Tangled.
It isn't Tiana.
But it is fun.
And sometimes fun is enough.
π Halloween Ruling: Mickey himself answered the door.
Good candy.
Cute decorations.
Definitely stopping here again next year.
#4 Gastonβs Tavern
No one...
bathrooms like Gaston.
I am sorry.
Actually...
I am not sorry.
This bathroom works because it feels like it belongs in Fantasyland.
There is character.
There are details.
There is actual thought behind it.
And after visiting this many bathrooms...
I appreciate that.
A LOT.
Gaston would obviously disagree with being #4.
He would probably demand that I rewrite this entire ranking.
Then he would stare at himself in the bathroom mirror for twenty minutes.
Sorry, Gaston.
You lost to two princesses and a circus.
π Halloween Ruling: Gaston is handing out full-size candy bars.
But only because he wants everyone to know his candy bars are bigger than everyone else's.
#5 By Caseyβs Corner
This bathroom is one of those Magic Kingdom surprises.
You are right off Main Street.
There are people everywhere.
Caseyβs Corner is busy.
The hub is busy.
Main Street is doing its usual Main Street thing.
And then somehow...
this bathroom is quiet.
I love that.
It feels tucked away from all the chaos.
And it is pretty.
Not Tangled pretty.
Letβs not get carried away.
But it has enough charm that I actually enjoy being in there.
Another huge bonus?
It is right next to the Baby Care Center and First Aid.
That makes this whole little area feel like one of Magic Kingdomβs quiet support zones.
A place to regroup.
Cool off.
Take care of what you need to take care of.
And then head back into the madness.
I really appreciate bathrooms like this.
They donβt have to scream for attention.
Sometimes being quiet, clean, pretty and in exactly the right location is enough.
π Halloween Ruling: The quiet house with the really good candy.
No giant decorations.
No fog machine.
No skeleton climbing out of the bushes.
Just a peaceful little stop...
and a full-size candy bar waiting at the door.
Definitely a treat.
#6 By Space Mountain
BENCHES.
I could probably end the review there.
You know how I feel about benches.
I love them.
Disney involves a lot of walking.
Sometimes I don't need another attraction.
I don't need another snack.
I don't need someone asking me where we are going next.
I need...
a bathroom.
Cold air.
A bench.
And five minutes where nobody talks to me.
This little area by Space Mountain gives me that.
The bathroom itself isn't going to win any Imagineering awards.
But the entire situation works.
And sometimes that is enough to push a bathroom higher in my rankings.
Especially those benches.
Have I mentioned the benches?
π Halloween Ruling: The trick-or-treat trail with absolutely no line.
Unexpected.
Peaceful.
I am going back for more candy.
#7 By Cheshire CafΓ©
This is where we enter the...
perfectly fine portion of our Halloween adventure.
Nothing scary has happened yet.
Nobody needs to call the Sanderson Sisters.
This bathroom does its job.
It is convenient.
I don't hate it.
But...
this is by Cheshire CafΓ©.
We are in Fantasyland.
Where is the weird?
Where is the whimsy?
Give me something that disappears.
Give me a ridiculous mirror.
Give me a sink that looks like it belongs in Wonderland.
I would have had FUN with this bathroom.
Instead...
bathroom.
Perfectly acceptable bathroom.
π Halloween Ruling: Kit Kat.
Good.
I will eat it.
But I am saving the Reeseβs pumpkin for later.
#8 By Pirates of the Caribbean
This bathroom is frustrating.
Because getting there is better than the actual bathroom.
There are two ways to find it.
One takes you down this quaint little walkway.
Black iron fence.
Cream-colored building.
It feels piratey.
I LOVE IT.
The other route takes you through the Pirates gift shop.
Bless your heart.
That place is chaos.
Everyone just got off the ride.
People are going in seventeen directions.
Someone is buying a sword.
And you are just trying to find a bathroom.
Keep going right.
Eventually...
you will see the sign.
Then you reach the bathroom area and it gets even better.
Dark.
Hidden.
Piratey.
And LOOK UP.
There is actual loot hidden above you.
LOOT!
This is the weird Disney stuff that makes me ridiculously happy.
Then you walk into the actual bathroom...
and...
oh.
All that buildup.
All that atmosphere.
All that treasure.
For this?
π Halloween Ruling: A treasure chest filled with fun-size candy.
Not terrible.
But I was promised treasure.
#9 Pinocchio Village Haus
Welcome to one of the strangest bathrooms in Magic Kingdom.
The outside?
ADORABLE.
It looks like a little German village.
The restroom signs have these wonderful silhouettes.
It has charm.
It has personality.
I walk toward it thinking...
YES!
Then I go inside.
And...
where did everything go?
It is like the Blue Fairy waved her wand and accidentally made all the theming disappear.
The outside promises Fantasyland.
The inside promises...
toilets.
I don't understand.
And this is exactly why I love doing this bathroom challenge.
Disney bathrooms are weird.
π Halloween Ruling: The mystery candy with no wrapper.
Do I eat it?
Probably not.
#10 Main Street U.S.A.
This bathroom is actually...
pretty.
I like it.
And if I were ranking bathrooms on looks alone...
it would probably be higher.
But this is Main Street U.S.A.
And Main Street has people.
So.
Many.
People.
People arriving.
People leaving.
People waiting for parades.
People trying to find their families.
People who need to pee RIGHT NOW.
And during Mickeyβs Not-So-Scary Halloween Party...
add costumes.
Candy bags.
Pumpkins.
Party crowds.
And thousands of people trying to squeeze every last drop of Halloween magic out of their night.
That stress follows you right into the bathroom.
It can feel crowded and chaotic.
Which is a shame...
because underneath all those people is a really pretty bathroom.
I want to enjoy it.
I want to look around.
I want to appreciate the details.
Instead, my brain is usually saying...
GET IN. GET OUT. ESCAPE MAIN STREET.
This bathroom didn't do anything wrong.
It is simply a pretty bathroom living in a very stressful neighborhood.
Poor thing.
π Halloween Ruling: Really good candy...but the trick-or-treat line wraps around the block.
I want the treat.
I just don't want to fight the crowd to get it.
#11 by Tomorrowland Terrace
We have reached...
meh.
Not scary.
Not magical.
Just...
there.
This is where the trick-or-treat bag starts filling up with candy I am going to give to Dave later.
I don't hate this bathroom.
There is nothing particularly horrible about it.
But there is also nothing making me happy.
Except for the signs.
Tomorrowland!
Give me futuristic.
Give me weird.
Give me something.
Instead...
bathroom.
π Halloween Ruling: Smarties.
Someone likes them.
That person can have mine.
#12 Outside Magic Kingdom
This bathroom has a very important job.
For some people...
this is their first Magic Kingdom bathroom.
Think about that.
You have been planning this vacation.
You finally arrive.
You can see Magic Kingdom.
Maybe you have been waiting years for this.
And before you even enter the park...
you have to pee.
Welcome to Disney!
This bathroom should be the opening act.
Especially during Halloween.
Give me pumpkins.
Give me a little Disney magic.
Give me SOMETHING.
Instead...
toilets.
Useful?
Yes.
Magical?
No.
π Halloween Ruling: The house that puts the candy bowl on the porch.
Thank you for the candy.
But where are the decorations?
#13 Frontierland/Adventureland
And now...
the tricks begin.
I hate this bathroom.
I hated it when I originally reviewed it.
I hate remembering it.
And I especially hate the journey to get there.
Welcome to...
THE TUNNEL OF PAIN.
This bathroom serves Frontierland AND Adventureland.
Which means people.
Lots and lots and lots of people.
People coming from both directions.
People stopping.
People looking for the bathroom.
People trying to figure out which way to go.
CHAOS.
There are themed signs.
There is some Moroccan-style decoration in the tunnel.
I see you trying, Disney.
But it does not help.
My anxiety spikes just thinking about this place.
This bathroom feels like an attraction.
Except I never wanted to ride it.
π Halloween Ruling: We have officially left Mickeyβs Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
Welcome to...
Maggieβs Actually-Quite-Scary Bathroom Adventure.
No Lightning Lane available.
#14 By Auntie Gravityβs Galactic Goodies & Tomorrowland Speedway
HOT.
That is what I remember.
And there are few things that make me crankier than a hot bathroom at Disney World.
I am already hot.
I am in Florida.
I have been walking around Magic Kingdom.
The sun is trying to kill me.
I do not need to walk into a bathroom and discover that the bathroom has decided to join the sun.
I want AIR CONDITIONING.
Cold air.
Beautiful, glorious cold air.
Instead...
more hot.
And this bathroom is small.
So now we are hot...
and cramped.
What a treat.
Thankfully Auntie Gravityβs is nearby.
Perhaps I can crawl inside the soft-serve machine.
π Halloween Ruling: The melted chocolate bar at the bottom of the trick-or-treat bag.
It probably started out fine.
Now it is a disaster.
#15 By TRON
This one makes me angry because of what it could have been.
TRON!
Disney!
COME ON.
This is futuristic.
Modern.
Sleek.
Glowing.
You are entering the Grid.
The ride looks incredible.
The entire area feels completely different from the rest of Magic Kingdom.
This bathroom should have been amazing.
Imagine the lighting.
The mirrors.
The sinks.
The tile.
Disney could have made it feel like we were walking into a bathroom from the future.
I wanted to go to the bathroom in the Grid.
There.
I said it.
The Sanderson Sisters could brew an entire cauldron of potion and I would still remember how disappointed I was.
π Halloween Ruling: A gorgeous Mickey trick-or-treat bag containing three Tootsie Rolls.
That is just cruel.
#16 By The Plaza Restaurant
And here we are.
DEAD LAST.
The final house on our trick-or-treat trail.
The porch light is off.
The pumpkins are gone.
Even the Headless Horseman has decided not to stop here.
This bathroom is outside near The Plaza Restaurant and the entrance to Tomorrowland.
Which is actually a fantastic location.
Main Street U.S.A. on one side.
Tomorrowland on the other.
Disney could have gone Victorian.
They could have gone futuristic.
They could have created some strange little transition between the two.
Instead...
nothing.
No theme.
No personality.
No fun details.
Nothing.
And then...
there is the smell.
THE SMELL.
I hate the smell of this bathroom.
I don't want to wander around looking for details.
I don't want to inspect anything.
I don't want to contemplate the Imagineering decisions.
I want to do what I came here to do...
and GET OUT.
For a bathroom sitting in such a prominent Magic Kingdom location, I expect better.
Much better.
We started this ranking with Tangled.
A bathroom so beautiful that it made me cry.
And we ended here.
A bathroom that makes me hold my breath.
Quite a journey.
π Halloween Ruling: The house handing out toothbrushes.
No candy.
No pumpkin.
No Boo-to-You.
No thank you.
ALL TRICK.
The Final Boo-to-the-Loo
And there we have it.
All 16 Magic Kingdom bathrooms ranked from best to worst.
What a journey.
We had full-size candy bars.
We had mystery candy.
We had melted chocolate.
We had Smarties that I gave to Dave.
We had the Tunnel of Pain.
We had benches.
We had pirates.
We had hidden loot.
We had a bathroom so hot I considered climbing into an ice cream machine.
And we had Tangled.
Beautiful, wonderful, emotional Tangled.
This bathroom challenge has made me realize something.
Bathrooms really do matter.
A bathroom can give you a quiet moment in the middle of a chaotic Disney day.
Cold air can save you when Florida is doing Florida things.
A nearby bench can give someone a desperately needed break.
A companion bathroom can make a huge difference for a family.
And good design can make people feel like Disney remembered them too.
That is why Tangled remains #1.
It is more than pretty.
It has heart.
And that is also why the boring bathrooms bother me so much.
I KNOW what Disney can do.
I have seen it.
So when they give me a smelly, themeless bathroom...
I have thoughts.
Many thoughts.
The Great Disney Bathroom Challenge continues.
But for now...
the pumpkins are glowing.
The candy bag is empty.
The ghosts are coming out to socialize.
And Magic Kingdom has officially crowned its bathroom champion.
π #1 Tangled: THE TREAT
π» #16 By The Plaza: THE TRICK
Boo to you...
and boo to the loo. ππ½π»
