Tangled Bathrooms Are Open: Bathroom #48
The Tangled bathrooms are open.
And I was so excited.
It felt like Christmas morning.
Except instead of running downstairs to see what Santa brought me, I was practically skipping through Fantasyland to see what the Disney Imagineers had created.
Normal people get excited about presents.
I get excited about bathrooms.
We all have our thing.
And then I walked inside.
And I cried.
Not a tiny sniffle.
Not one delicate little Disney tear.
I mean a full-on Rapunzel-level tear fest.
My emotions had apparently been locked in a tower for 18 years, and the second I saw this bathroom, they escaped.
I just stood there looking around.
The lanterns.
The colors.
The paintings.
The tiny details tucked into every corner.
It was Tangled.
Not a bathroom with a few Tangled decorations slapped on the walls.
The Imagineers had taken the world of Rapunzel and somehow continued the story right into a restroom.
And I couldn't believe how beautiful it was.
It was pure Disney magic.
But the reason I cried wasn't just because it was pretty.
It was because of what this bathroom represents to me.
For some families, bathrooms are an afterthought.
You walk past one and barely notice it.
For other families, bathrooms can determine an entire day.
Where are they?
How many stalls are there?
Is there a companion restroom?
Is it crowded?
Is there enough room?
Can we get there quickly?
Bathrooms matter.
And standing inside this one, surrounded by all that care and detail, I felt like families who depend on bathrooms more than others were being seen.
Like Disney was saying:
You deserve the magic here, too.
You don't get the forgotten beige bathroom tucked behind a building.
You get Rapunzel.
You get lanterns.
You get artwork.
You get hidden details.
You get whimsy.
You get a bathroom worthy of the Lost Princess herself.
And I still get goosebumps thinking about it.
Because everywhere you look, there is something to discover.
Look up.
Look at the walls.
Look at the shelves.
Yes.
There are shelves in the bathroom.
And they aren't just shelves.
They are filled with little pieces of Rapunzel's world.
The restroom signs continue the Tangled theme.
The women's room.
The men's room.
The companion restroom.
Because, of course, there is a companion restroom.
Even the Cast Members Only sign gets to join the story.
Nobody was allowed to escape the theming.
Not even the staff door.
And while this bathroom is ridiculously beautiful, the Imagineers didn't forget that a bathroom actually has a job to do.
It is huge.
There are two sides, and you can enter the area from the front or the back, which helps with the flow of people.
There are also two baby changing tables.
It's functional.
It's thoughtful.
It's practical.
And somehow it still feels like you wandered away from Fantasyland and straight into the Kingdom of Corona.
But for me, this bathroom will always be about the details.
The tiny things someone could have easily decided didn't matter.
Because they do matter.
Someone thought about the ceiling.
Someone thought about the shelves.
Someone thought about the signs.
Someone thought about the colors.
Someone thought about the people who would walk through those doors.
The Imagineers could have built a perfectly nice bathroom here.
Instead, they told a story.
And for someone who believes bathrooms matter far more than most people realize...
that feels like finally seeing the floating lanterns.
The Bathroom Adventure Continues! 🚽
One bathroom down. Approximately a million more to go. Okay, slight exaggeration. But I'm working my way through the bathrooms of Walt Disney World, noticing the little details, judging the toilet paper, and occasionally wondering why I'm doing this.
