Bathroom #26: The Most Patriotic Bathroom Redemption Story Ever Told🦅

Do you remember the old America Pavilion bathrooms?

I do.

Unfortunately.

Those tiny, cramped, dark bathrooms hidden away in the corner.

The bathrooms that technically had more than one stall…

But emotionally?

It felt like they had one stall and maybe a half.

I’m joking.

Kind of.

They were dark.

They were dingy.

They were overwhelmed.

And the line?

The line could stretch so far it looked like everyone in EPCOT suddenly decided to celebrate their freedom to use the bathroom at the exact same moment.

Sam Eagle would not approve.

“This is a glorious nation. We deserve glorious bathrooms.”

Okay, maybe he didn’t say that.

But he should have.

And these bathrooms caused me personal drama.

I missed many Candlelight Processional performances because of those bathrooms.

Between my daughter’s Crohn’s flaring…

Or her younger sibling suddenly realizing they had to go right now…

Those bathrooms became part of our family history.

A tiny, frustrating, bathroom-based chapter.

But I digress.

Because this story has a beautiful ending.

A very American ending.

A bathroom redemption story.

As you know from my earlier blog, Disney built an absolute masterpiece of a new bathroom in the America Pavilion.

A bathroom so good I think Sam Eagle himself would walk in, shed one patriotic tear, and salute the hand dryers.

But then Disney had a problem.

What do you do with the old bathroom space?

And Disney had the best idea.

They transformed those tiny, stressful bathrooms into…

Two glorious companion bathrooms.

You could do a cartwheel in this bathroom.

Cue the fireworks.

Cue the music.

Cue Sam Eagle standing dramatically with an American flag waving behind him.

Because this was the right decision.

The Details

These companion bathrooms are HUGE.

Seriously.

Huge.

It honestly makes me laugh because each companion bathroom feels almost the same size as the entire old bathroom.

Disney took a space that used to create stress and turned it into something actually useful.

They are clean.

They are well maintained.

They are bright.

They are pretty.

And they feel like someone actually thought about what guests need.

Imagine that.

A bathroom designed for humans.

Revolutionary.

Sam Eagle approves.

Anything Special?

Families need space.

People need privacy.

People need options.

Especially here.

The America Pavilion is halfway around World Showcase.

You are far from the front of EPCOT.

You are far from Connections.

You are in the middle of your journey around the world.

And sometimes you just need a bathroom that works.

These companion bathrooms work.

And while you are there…

You can always make a phone call.

Yes.

A real phone call.

On a real working pay phone.

Because apparently the America Pavilion isn’t just preserving history inside The American Adventure.

It is preserving history right outside the bathrooms too.

Somewhere Sam Eagle is smiling.

A beautiful bathroom.

A working pay phone.

American tradition lives on.

Disney clearly marked the area so guests know these are companion bathrooms and not the main restroom.

A small detail.

A very important detail.

So today we salute Disney.

Not for a ride.

Not for fireworks.

Not for a giant animatronic eagle.

But for something equally important…

A well-designed bathroom.

Because sometimes progress isn’t a giant leap forward.

Sometimes progress is two beautiful companion bathrooms where a tiny, chaotic restroom used to be.
