The Skyliner Bathroom Emergency #82

Whelp.

The day I have been dreading finally happened.

Ugh.

I was riding the Disney Skyliner from Hollywood Studios to EPCOT.

Everything was lovely.

I was floating through the sky in my little pirate-themed box, enjoying my life.

And then...

I had to go to the bathroom.

Not a casual, I'll find one eventually bathroom situation.

No.

This was a SOUND THE ALARMS. WE HAVE A FULL-BLOWN BATHROOM EMERGENCY situation.

And I was stuck approximately 55,000 feet in the air.

Slight exaggeration.

But when you have to pee on the Skyliner, it certainly feels that way.

There was nowhere to go.

No emergency exit.

No secret Skyliner bathroom.

Just me, the pirate gondola, and my increasingly unhappy bladder.

Thankfully, the Skyliner does not go directly from Hollywood Studios to EPCOT.

You have to get off at the Caribbean Beach Resort Skyliner hub and transfer to another gondola for EPCOT.

HALLELUJAH.

Never have I been so excited to leave a pirate-themed box.

I got off and, by some wonderful stroke of bathroom luck, headed in the correct direction.

Because there it was.

A BATHROOM.

Right beside the line for the EPCOT Skyliner.

I quickly walked toward it.

Okay.

I ran.

There was no time for dignity.

And I made it.

Crisis officially averted.

Once my bladder and I were speaking to each other again, I could actually look around and quietly judge this very important bathroom.

And you know what?

It's quite nice.

The Details

Location: Caribbean Beach Resort Skyliner hub

Nearest Landmark: Right beside the queue for the Skyliner to EPCOT. Look to the left as you approach the line.

Best Time: When you desperately need a bathroom before getting onto another gondola. Otherwise, quieter travel times will probably be your best bet.

Crowd Level: I was the only person inside during my visit, but I can absolutely see this bathroom getting busy during peak Skyliner travel times.

Anything Special: LOCATION. LOCATION. LOCATION. If you are transferring between Hollywood Studios and EPCOT and suddenly need a bathroom, this little building may become your new best friend.

Also, Disney REALLY wants you to know there are bathrooms here.

There are signs everywhere.

Two for the men's room.

Two for the women's room.

One for the companion restroom.

And another sign overhead.

You would have to work very hard to accidentally enter the wrong bathroom.

The Official Ruling

Situation: Skyliner bathroom emergency lifesaver.

Cold Air: After my frantic journey from the gondola, I was just happy to be inside.

Stall Situation: Large enough that it didn't feel cramped, especially with no one else in there.

Paper Situation: No complaints from me.

Flush Situation: Nothing memorable, which can actually be a compliment when it comes to Disney automatic flushers.

Noise Level: Very peaceful during my visit. I had the place to myself.

Smell: Nothing offensive jumped out at me.

Handwashing Area: I really liked the sinks. There is a lower sink, which is always helpful for little kids and anyone who needs easier access.

Decor: Surprisingly cheerful! The floor tile has colorful tones that make the whole bathroom feel bright and welcoming.

And I have to give Disney bonus points for one tiny detail:

The trash can matches the bathroom colors.

Yes.

I notice these things.

Someone has to.

Companion Restroom: Yes! There is a separate companion restroom, and there is absolutely no chance you will miss the sign for it.

Overall Comfort: Very comfortable when empty. During a Skyliner rush, I imagine this could be an entirely different bathroom personality.

Final Verdict

This bathroom didn't need chandeliers.

It didn't need hidden Mickeys.

It didn't need a gold octopus drain cover.

It just needed to BE THERE.

And it was.

At the exact moment I needed it most.

There are bathrooms you remember because they're beautiful.

There are bathrooms you remember because they're terrible.

And then there are bathrooms you remember because they saved you from having to climb back into a Skyliner gondola with a bladder screaming for mercy.

This is that bathroom.

Caribbean Beach Skyliner Hub Bathroom...
