Bathroom #28: Morocco Pavilion — A Beautiful Bathroom With One Big Problem
The outside feels like you stepped into a painting. Beautiful architecture, peaceful corners, and even benches to enjoy the view.
The Morocco bathroom is gorgeous.
There.
I said something nice.
Because it is.
From the outside, this bathroom looks like you have stepped into Morocco.
The architecture is beautiful.
The details are stunning.
There are even benches where you can sit, relax, and admire everything around you.
It looks like a painting.
The entire area feels like Disney did what Disney does best.
They transported you somewhere else.
And then…
You take a deep breath.
Big mistake.
Because while you are sitting there enjoying the beautiful view, something else is also making itself known.
The smell.
Yes.
Before you even open the bathroom door.
Before you even step inside.
The smell has already introduced itself.
And then you open the bathroom door.
And…
Well…
How do I say this nicely?
I can’t.
It smells.
The bathroom smells like the smell you never want a bathroom to smell like.
The bathroom smell.
And the worst part?
You can’t escape it.
It is outside.
It is inside.
It is there in the morning.
It gets worse as the day goes on.
The smell has basically moved in, unpacked its bags, and claimed ownership of this beautiful building and the surrounding area.
The Bathroom
The bathroom itself is actually a really good size.
There is only one section, but it is a large section.
Lots of stalls.
Lots of sinks.
Plenty of space.
In theory, this bathroom should work.
But this is EPCOT.
And EPCOT has a very unique problem.
The World Showcase drinking crowds.
And this poor bathroom is fighting for its life.
Before Disney built the new France bathroom (Bathroom #29), Morocco had even more pressure on it.
Now it is better.
But better does not mean good.
There always seems to be a line for the women’s bathroom.
Always.
Morning.
Afternoon.
Evening.
The line is just waiting there like it paid for an annual pass.
Cleanliness
This is where things fall apart.
It is dirty.
Yes.
Dirty.
Toilet paper on the floor.
Toilets that have not been flushed.
Paper towels tossed around like someone decided the bathroom needed confetti.
It is chaos.
And I truly believe the Cast Members are trying their best.
This does not feel like a lack of caring.
This feels like an impossible battle.
In all my years of visiting this bathroom, I usually only see one poor Cast Member trying to control the bathroom disaster.
One person.
Against EPCOT crowds.
That is not a fair fight.
But I do have to ask the question…
If Norway can handle Frozen crowds, princess dresses, crying children, bakery visitors, and people searching for bathrooms after drinking Viking Coffee…
Why can’t Morocco?
The Sad Part
The saddest part about this bathroom?
It really is beautiful.
The tile work is incredible.
I love the art work above the sinks.
The colors are perfect.
The signs are delicate and match the pavilion.
This sign is so beautiful!
The details are exactly what you expect from Disney.
The entire building feels special.
But you forget all of that.
Because instead of noticing the artwork…
You notice the smell.
And that is such a shame.
This bathroom could be amazing.
Disney should really reevaluate this one.
Because underneath the crowds, the mess, and the unfortunate aroma…
There is a gorgeous bathroom waiting to shine.
Official Bathroom Ruling
Situation: High Traffic Chaos
Cold Air: Trying Its Best
Stall Situation: Acceptable Human Conditions
Toilet Paper: Standard Disney Survival Paper
Flush: Automatic Acceptable
Final Verdict
The Morocco bathroom is the definition of wasted potential.
It has the beauty.
It has the details.
It has the Disney magic.
But unfortunately…
It also has the smell.
And sometimes one bad smell is powerful enough to defeat an entire pavilion.
Even one this pretty.
