🦇 Welcome to the Darkmoor Bathrooms! Monsters Need Bathrooms Too!
I don't like scary things.
Let me repeat that.
I. Do. Not. Like. Scary. Things.
Monsters? No.
Horror movies? Absolutely not.
Creepy noises coming from somewhere I can't see?
Goodbye.
My youngest child, however?
Loves all of it.
The scarier, the better.
I have absolutely no idea how this happened.
So when Epic Universe opened and we walked into Darkmoor, we were having two completely different experiences.
L was basically living their best life.
And I was looking around thinking...
Why is everything so DARK?
Then Dave and L met Ygor.
I missed it.
Why?
Because I was looking at bathrooms.
Of course I was.
And here is the part I never expected:
I loved them.
Me.
The woman who would happily leave Darkmoor to the monsters and go find something involving sunshine and snacks.
I walked into a monster bathroom and thought:
This is magnificent.
Monsters? No thank you. Monsters on bathroom signs? YES PLEASE.
Even the toilet is black. Because apparently a regular white toilet would be far too cheerful for Darkmoor. 🖤🚽
I wanted to see the bathroom. I did NOT want to see the bathroom alone. Thank goodness I travel with a child who considers creepy things fun.
I appreciate a bathroom with a bench nearby. I would appreciate it slightly more if the bench didn’t look haunted.
Final Verdict
Darkmoor wasn't made for me.
Or at least that's what I thought.
I don't love scary things. I don't want to be frightened for fun. L got that gene in our family.
But that's one of my favorite things about traveling with my children.
Sometimes their favorite things become part of my story too.
L got monsters.
Dave and L got Ygor.
And Mom?
Mom got the bathrooms.
And what bathrooms they are.
They're dark and strange and ridiculously detailed. They're creepy without making me want to flee. There are things to discover everywhere you look.
Somehow, in the land I expected to like the least, I found one of my favorite bathrooms in Epic Universe.
I still don't want to watch a scary movie.
I'm still not hanging out with Frankenstein after dark.
But his bathroom?
That I will visit again.
A+. Monsters, you win this one.
There's More Behind These Bathroom Doors! 🚽
Apparently, I can't visit a theme park without inspecting the bathrooms. And Universal has given me plenty to talk about. Incredible theming, interesting signs, surprisingly impressive sinks, and yes, even black toilets.
