Disney’s Free Resort Scavenger Hunt (Yes, Free. I Love That Word.)
I love scavenger hunts.
There is something so fun about searching for something hidden. Looking in corners. Checking odd little spaces. Feeling like a kid again.
And honestly? It’s even better when there’s a reward at the end.
Did you know several Walt Disney World Resort hotels have their own free scavenger hunt?
Yes. Free. My favorite vacation price.
Secret Time: You Don’t Have to Stay There
You do not need to be staying at the hotel.
Anyone can play.
G and I turned it into a challenge day and visited:
Disney's Beach Club Resort
Disney's Yacht Club Resort
Disney's BoardWalk Inn
Disney's Riviera Resort
We were determined. Slightly dramatic. Fully committed.
How It Works (Because It Confused Me Too)
Let me save you from first-time confusion.
Some resorts have signs explaining everything.
Others appear to believe mystery builds character.
For example:
Yacht Club had signs everywhere
Beach Club had absolutely nothing helpful
What You’re Looking For
Each hotel has a large cardboard cutout of a Disney character tied to that resort’s theme.
The ones we found were:
Yacht Club — Max from The Little Mermaid
Beach Club — Flounder from The Little Mermaid
BoardWalk — Goofy (which I don’t understand! And he is so much smaller than the others.)
Riviera — Pascal from Tangled
Then the hunt begins.
Search the lobby. Hallways. Shops. Random corners. Decorative nooks.
Supposedly they won’t be outside by the pool, which feels like useful information.
When You Find It
Celebrate wildly.
Take a selfie.
March proudly to the front desk and show them your photo.
On Day 1, you get a special pin.
At the Boardwalk, to claim your prize, you have to go to the Community Hall—and for G, that was just a little too far of a walk that day.
Honestly? I still count it as a success.
We found Goofy. We solved the mystery. We did the hard part.
The pin may have escaped us, but the victory did not.
Each day after that, the character moves to a new hiding place, and when you find it again, you earn a sticker for your pin.
You can complete it over 5 total days:
Day 1 = pin
Remaining days = stickers
The days do not need to be consecutive.
No one marks your pin.
No one interrogates you.
You are not cheating the system by returning later.
Our Results
We went on a Tuesday and absolutely crushed it.
We found all the cutouts.
We collected all the pins.
We were thriving.
Then I returned on Saturday for another round and found... nothing.
Utter heartbreak.
At Yacht Club, the signs were still there, but Max had chosen an elite-level hiding spot.
Final Thoughts
Like any good scavenger hunt, sometimes you win.
Sometimes you lose.
Sometimes a cardboard fish humbles you.
But either way—it’s fun, it’s free, and it gives you a whole new way to explore Disney resorts.
